We have been providing promotional products to the Perth area for more than thirty years. We have a lot of great regular customers who we consider to be our friends. They know how well promotional products work and many use them as their main form of advertising. But even we were surprised to see the results of a recent survey of the Australian marketing community.
During the latter part of 2014, the Australasian Promotional Products Association (APPA) commissioned Sweeney Research to survey Small to Medium Enterprises (SME’s) to determine the value of promotional products and how large of a role they played in the marketing strategies of SME’s in Australia.
Findings of the Survey
According to the survey, the average SME in Australia spends approximately $31,000 per year on promotional products. Nearly all of them plan to increase their budget and expenditures for promotional items in the next twelve months. The businesses were asked some questions about what benefits they felt promotional items provide.
87% said that giving away promotional products is an efficient way to connect with their customers. 87% also said that they use promotional items to increase brand awareness. 81% said that promotional items can be used to help them differentiate themselves from their competition. 79% thought that promotional items represent a great value for the money they were spending on them.
One Example
A seller of cars and trucks in WA who will remain unnamed provides promotional products with every vehicle they sell. One year they gave away a cooler bag with a cap, a towel, a stubby holder, a flask and a bottle opener key ring. They are very successful, with four locations across WA.
Their sales manager feels that these gifts promote loyalty, especially if they are still looking good and in use the next time the customer is looking for another vehicle.
