All sport fabrics are designed to be durable while allowing maximum circulation of air and quick drying of perspiration, also called “wicking.”

Right Material for your Team Jersey

Here are some general guidelines.

Medium Weight Polyester

Benefits: resistant to ripping, close-fitting due to stretch characteristics, excellent wicking, dries fast when laundered and fade resistant.

Common uses: contact sports such as rugby, AFL and cricket due to sliding.

Sports Mesh

Benefits: Great ventilation to promote airflow and wicking to get rid of perspiration, quick dry “wash and wear,” resistant to fading, good protection from sun.

Common uses: polos, t-shirts, shorts and singlets.

Lycra

Benefits: molds to body, light weight, low friction, fade resistant.

Uses: bicycling netball, sport singlets.

Extra Life Lycra

Benefits: extremely long-lasting, forms to body most efficiently of any material, extremely low friction, protection from UV rays, great breathability, quick drying.

Uses: Gameday clothing, compression garments, high-performance sports.

Polyester Microfibre

Benefits: extremely light weight, great ventilation and air circulation, soft feel, quick wash and dry, resistant to fading.

Uses: Mostly used in all purpose shorts.
