We, at ImagePak, have a large variety of different promotional products that we supply to the Perth area and we use a couple of different processes to make sure our products are the best you can get. The majority of our items use either embroidery or screen printing to detail them with your custom names and logos and the two both have advantages and disadvantages that make them useful in different situations.
What is embroidery and when it is used?
Embroidery, put simply, is the stitching of thread into a product or fabric. In our business, once you give us a logo or something similar, it is put into a patch and attached to an item with thread. The advantages to this are that the material is generally longer-lasting, especially for items that don’t receive a lot of wear and tear such as hats and the embroidered items look more professional than their printed counterparts and are best suited for corporate events. Embroidery is usually preferred by event organisers and sports clubs in the Perth area.
What is screen printing and what are its uses?
By contrast, screen printing is not the attachment of a different patch, but the direct infusion of ink into a material to produce a name or image. It is a rather easy process that can be done a number of ways, but usually ink is simply applied to the item to resemble the desired icon. Printing is used for a variety of different items, ranging from T-shirts to coffee mugs and is usually favoured for a number of items. Images can peel however, although generally they can last a while.
Which method is better?
Both types of image producing have their times and items, so it’s hard to say which is better. Embroidery is more professional looking, but more expensive and less versatile than screen printing. Usually, a combination of both methods is best for most products.
